On Saturday, February 26th, I had the honor of attending the Amwell Valley Fire Company’s Annual Banquet as an invited guest due to my position on the East Amwell Township Committee. The Amwell Valley Fire Company was established in 1923, has over 150 calls a year, covers 29 square miles, and is 100% volunteer based. Every year they have a banquet to honor individuals in the Company. This year, Bill Davis received the firefighter of the year award and Joe Hornsby received the President’s award. Both seemed very honored and humbled to receive their awards.
Members from the rescue squad were also present as well as representatives from other mutual aid companies. The Ladies Auxillary also attended as well and donated a check of $5,000 to the fire company. Additionally, members of the community were also in attendance.
Jason and I enjoyed ourselves immensely. It was fun to mingle during cocktail hour, listen to the DJ and watch people dance, and enjoy some good food and company. I look forward to attending again next year and appreciate all the volunteers who serve our town.
